What milk to use?

Choose the milk that suits you. We're all different, and this starter culture works with a wide range of dairy milk including:

  • Lactose-Free dairy milk
  • A2 milk
  • Trim and Calci-Trim
  • Blue top - homogenised milk
  • Whole milk and even cream
  • Raw milk, cow, goat, sheep milk
  • It even works with UHT and powdered milk

To make a tangy flavoured dairy yogurt choose our Probiotic Yogurt Starter

    Because they're made fresh here in NZ, each batch has a long shelf life. When you receive them, store them in the freezer.

    Courier notified me the goods had been collected for delivery but it took 7 days and a couple of conversations with NZ Post before it was in hand. The delay in delivery wasn't Country Trading's fault but I suggest using a different courier. I used a breadmaker with a yoghurt-making function (no thermometer, so by "feel"), which I've used successfully before using milk and yoghurt with a live culture. I expected a "thick and creamy" consistency similar to Greek yoghurt; it was a bit thicker than my earlier attempts (which were quite runny) but not as thick as Greek. May purchase a thermometer to see if that makes a difference to the result.

    I can't say because it's been a week since sending and I haven't received it yet. I hope this isn't to the detriment of the yoghurt starter because I'm trying to save money, but this seems to be having the opposite effect.

    Hi there, I'm sorry your order has not arrived. I can see from the tracking that they did attempt to deliver it to you but encountered some problems and requested you to reschedule delivery. Please be assured the Yogurt Starter Culture will be fine at room temperature for several weeks.     Just REAL GOOD yogurt. Easy to make - and I don't have any of the "gear", just a food grade plastic container and a hot water cupboard. Eating it every day, use it for anything from a daily sweet treat with honey and nuts or jam to a healthy mayonnaise replacement in salads. Love it.
